Medication does not work for pains in hands? What to do for the pain
Is it normal for a doctor to insist you keep taking metoprolol 100mg when your pulse is 44 bpm when you’re up and moving, you have visual distortions, fell dizzy and like you’re about to meet your maker? I’m not some young athlete, age 59, don’t exercise, post heart attack.. why would my doctor keep insisting I continue a beta blocker 100 mg that slows down the heart when pulse is 44 while walking around? Can you answer that? I appreciate it
I just got the news that my Calcium is 1197. I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor about scheduling a stress test. I got the test because I have a family history of heart disease and I had some episodes of SVT. My LDL is 6 and my cholesterol is <100 but triglycerides is borderline high. I'm just 52 and this video calmed me, somewhat. Thank you
I have the symptoms and said this to my doctor, she just said not to worry about it until I faint. Currently panicking that there’s something wrong with my heart
Thank you for that explanation
Great explanation!
Best explanation,ever! Thank you!❤❤
All these medical terms I do not understand. Can you convert to laymen terms? The pressure in a automobile tire is 42 pounds which I understand.
Thank you Dr, another great video. Wondering if you can do a video on Myocardial Bridges and specifically cover symptomatic bridges. At 48, after suffering significant chest pain at rest and dizziness my Cardiologist sent me for a CTCA which found a long and in-part deep bridge. I also have some minor LVH, but otherwise my heart is in good shape. I’ve started on Beta Blockers but symptoms persist. I’m confused why I’m now having issues after showing no prior symptoms. I’m off for cardiac MRI next but expect IVUS to show the issue. Considering up to 1/3 have a bridge, interesting on your thoughts and opinions on why these can cause issues in some people and what is the best treatment (unroofing?) long term.
Thanks Peter for that very good explanation of blood pressure and monitoring it. Mine is always higher at the doctor's office than what I measure at home with my home automatic BP machine. White coat syndrome?
Thankyou Peter , I have never understood what blood pressure actually is , despite being treated for high blood pressure. Thankyou for this very informative video .
How long was stent can last inside the Heart?
You lost me at statins! You are definitely not up to date on statins and cholesterol!
I guess zero has gotta be the winner
Thank you Doctor
Thanks. Very professional. They said I need triple bypass surgery but changed their mind since I have severe emphysema from smoking so I guess it's stents now
Thank you so much for this. This is so much better an explanation than I was given by the clinic that told me my score was high!
This happened to me immediately after stents (2) placement in the LAD due to blockage heart attack. The left main blocked 100% after the first procedure, my cardiologist said that I had a tremendous ability to clot. Whatever. I’m grateful he saved my life, take aspiring and clopidrogel meds since March 2017.
Thanks ❤Venkatramana Awaru.
I have a question : Do the patient feel anything during the stenting? Like something crawling inside or any sort of pain. I know about the anaesthesia that doctor will use on body part but that's not what I am asking. I am asking about the feeling inside the arteries.
My heartrate during the day (last year), is between 55-60bpm, but when I am sleeping, 45bpm. I am not dizzy, BUT I feel like my sinuses are full and like my head is underwater... any thoughts?
I had mine 2 weeks ago on the 10th of June. I am only 49. I feel done in.
So how low is too low ?
My ECG normal My BP normal My echo normal My stress test normal My holter test normal But doctor still advised beta blockers
I am 93vr. Old I had my first stent placed by a super young man Dr Little I believe hecwas from. SOMALIA. IN 1916. I have had drug eluting placed I had the last double in 20 18 so I have 4 now I'm on clopidogeral and bisoppropol, for life just taken each morning the same Dr performed each stent I thank him from bottom of my heart Kingd mill hospital, Mansfield
Good Man. Bless You.
Thanks again. V good. Trev Powis Cohuna Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
32 to 35 bpm on average for my resting heart rate. Seen it go to 28 before. I'm 32 years old, been doing physical jobs my whole life and now work for myself doing renovations. I enjoy running 2-3 times a week, weight lifting since high school, naturally muscular, low body fat year round without trying. My father was the same with low reting heart rate. He's now 78 and still has a low resting below 40bpm although he did have a couple stints put in his arteries due to high blockage about 15 years ago now. I recently did a sleep study and found out I have sleep apnea of 36 AHI which is considered severe. Definitely worth looking into it for anyone with low resting heart rate as there seems to be some correlations.
I was diagnosed with heart failure in November 2023. I had a triple heart bypass in 2013 and it is thought that damage to the heart back then has increased over the last 11 years. After my CABG in follow-up, my ejection fraction was 60%. In November 2023, when I was experiencing breathlessness on only slight exertion, the EF was measured at 25 - 35%. The hospital cardiologist put me on a daily regimen of medications, which have improved my condition considerably. These are: Dapagliflozin, Entresto, Furosemide, Eplerenone, and Bisoprolol. However, I had been taking Bisoprolol and before that Atenolol for many years. In addition to the meds listed, I also take Apixaban and Rosuvastatin. I'm 78, male, living in England, and I'm just about to mow the back lawn.
Thank you for this and your other videos. I had a "Widow Maker" heart attack with a 100% blockage 5/17/24...very grateful to still be here...Going through the recovery process...cardiac rehab & also a therapist to combat depression. I've found your videos SUPER helpful & assuring!
Thanks for this info! The GF goes in next week for hers and to see what comes next. A shout out goes to both Pfizer and Moderna for her lengthy list of heart problems that 'coincidentally' started appearing within weeks of receiving the "Safe & Effective(tm)" drug injections despite having zero issues pre-injection (and yes, she had regular cardiac evaluations for work requirements to help prove she had no issues).
You mentioned bundle branch block. My husband and his brother both have one of those. Your videos are very informative.
My husband had put in 2 weeks ago, very painful week and today started bleeding . Let’s see how it goes
Thank you Doc! Wonderful explanation.
Ernesto has not been tested fully and only by the manufacturer . 17% died. I stopped taking it after 3 days, having really bad pulse v bp.
So what medication do you take now?
I just got out of hospital this week and had this procedure. The doctor said I had 90 % blockage.
Could you please refer me to ANY study which shows ANY causal relationship between Lp(a) levels and development of atherosclerosis. I do not believe that there is ANY proof that high Lp(a) actually causes cardiovascular disease. The only research data on this topic that exists is purely ASSOCIATIONAL.
So Professor, no truth to the old tale that my Granny told me when I was a kid. She said that every person's heart is only allocated a certain number of heartbeats for a lifetime, once those beats are expended then that life ends. Every extra "ectopic" beat would use up a finite resource. But of course it was just a tale, maybe just her way of explaining people's passing on.
Only medications but no mention of diet and life style change? Lol
Thank you for a very informative breakdowns of each treatment. I’ll share with my father who st 93 recently suffered heart failure.
Great concise video with an easy to understand explanation - Thanks
Thanyou very much dr
My blood test results were excellent. At 66, I've followed a Mediterranean diet for the past 26 years. My cardiologist assures me I'm in good health. I dedicate 10 hours a week to cycling and rowing. I often joke with my wife that if I were to die of a heart attack while cycling or rowing, she should throw the party of her life. And when my friends ask about my doctor, I say it's in the garage and runs on two pedals.
Great video. Clear and concise. No crap. Top information
Thank you, thank you!! I got a CAC and it came back just over 2000. I had been on statins for 3 years and had recently discontinued them due to side effects and drilling down about the absolute effectiveness of statins. I made a personal choice not to take statin any longer. My cardiologist about went ballistic. So, he said I want you to do a nuclear stress test and a carotid US. I did and passed both tests. No restrictions in the carotids. By the way I am 72, asymptomatic. I paid out of pocket for the advanced lipoprotein panel. Triglycerides: 46, Apo(a): <10, ApoB: 98, LDL pattern: A, LDL size: 225, CHOL/HDLC RATIO: 3.3. Those results don't seem to alarm me and I wanted to share them with my cardiologist. He would not even look at them stating: "your LDL is 130 that's all I need to know----you need a statin." I disagreed and we parted ways.
Great video Dr. I’m on Beta Blockers at 48y after discovery of a larger Myocardial Bridge causing significant Angina. Wondering if you could do a video about Myocardial Bridges but specifically those that and why they cause issues. Some great research papers coming from Stanford and Cleveland regarding testing and the success of unroofing surgery. Seems that some Cardiologists believe these are rather benign and dismiss a bridge causing issues, whilst others acknowledge in some patients they do cause issues which need to be addressed. What are your thoughts? Have you seen many issues from bridges yourself? Are there any specialists/experts regarding bridges and unroofing in Sydney I should be talking to that perform the right tests and procedures? The last few months have been pretty debilitating, hoping the Beta Blockers reverse my rapid decline.
Dr. I am a kidney transplant patient, what is the percentage of my kidney getting damaged? Thank you.
You say that statins are essential in both primary and secondary prevention. Can you cite published studies with absolute risk numbers? I haven’t seen benefits greater than a few percentage points when you look at absolute numbers. The NNT of statin for secondary prevention is 39.
Very informative. Thank you Dr,
